What documents do I need to rent a car?

You need a valid driving licence (held for at least 1 year), a passport or national ID, and a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit.

Is there a minimum age to rent a car?

The minimum age is 21 years. Drivers aged 21-24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge. Drivers under 21 are not permitted.

Can I take the rental car out of Albania?

Cross-border travel is available with prior approval. All EU countries are covered, plus Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo and other Green Card scheme members. Popular routes include Albania to Montenegro and North Macedonia. Green Card or cross-border insurance is arranged at the desk. Please notify us in advance.

What is included in the rental price?

Every rental comes with our Standard insurance, which includes Third-Party Liability (TPL, required by law), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), and Theft Waiver (TW). Also included: 24/7 breakdown assistance and VAT. Mileage depends on the rental package and is shown on your quote, many categories include unlimited kilometres. Fuel is same to same: the car is returned at the same fuel level it left with. Optional upgrade to Premium insurance (industry name SCDW) removes the excess on most car groups. Can I rent a car with a debit card?

Yes, on every M.A.C.K. rental. We accept Visa Debit and Mastercard Debit for both the deposit hold and the rental payment. No credit card required.

Do I need a credit card to rent a car?

No. A debit card from a bank account in your name is enough. We hold the deposit on the debit card at pickup and release it after you return the car in good condition.

Is a deposit required at pickup?

Yes. We hold a deposit on your card at pickup; the amount varies by car category and is shown in your booking quote and on the rental contract. The hold is released - not charged - after the car is returned in good condition with the same fuel level it left with.

What does the rental insurance cover and what's the excess?

Every rental comes with our Standard insurance: Third-Party Liability (TPL, required by law), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) for damage to your rental, and Theft Waiver (TW) if the car is stolen. With CDW and TW your bill is capped at the excess, you pay up to that cap and we cover the rest. Without these waivers you would owe the full repair or the full value of the car, so the cap is essentially a courtesy from the rental company. The excess varies by car category and is shown on your contract. The optional Premium insurance upgrade (industry name SCDW) removes the excess on most car groups. Tires, windshield, undercarriage and personal items are not covered even with Premium insurance. By law in Croatia (and the same standard applies in Albania and Montenegro), for any of the insurance to apply you must call the police and have an alcohol test taken at the scene of any accident.
